Cost-effectiveness and procurement

What does an inspection robot cost?

The range is wide: research and entry-level platforms cost considerably less than inspection systems suitable for industrial use, certified Ex systems considerably more.

The platform alone, however, is rarely the largest item. On top come the sensor payload, charging infrastructure including structural preparation, set-up and teaching of the routes, training, software licences and a service contract.

For a reliable assessment, a total cost calculation over the service life is therefore more meaningful than the price of the device. The method for this is set out in the guide to cost-effectiveness: purchase, leasing or Robot-as-a-Service.
