Can an inspection robot climb stairs?

Yes, industrial legged systems manage industrial stairs with angles of inclination up to approx. 45 degrees.

This is precisely their main advantage over vehicles. Plants with several levels, grating stairs and open steps are not accessible to wheeled vehicles.

The specific stair geometry must be checked: step height, tread depth and whether the steps are open or closed. Open steps are more demanding, because the laser scanner measures through them.
