Fundamentals and technology

How loud is an inspection robot?

Electrically driven legged systems are considerably quieter than combustion engines, but not silent – what is audible is mainly the sound of the footsteps and the drives under load.

This is relevant for indoor spaces with people present, but usually not for plant environments with an already high background noise level. Manufacturers rarely give reliable comparative values; anyone who needs to know precisely should request a measurement as part of a demonstration.

In areas with people present, noise emission also plays a role in acceptance – see guide to acceptance and responsibility.
