Boston Dynamics

Spot

Quadruped

Current model

Quadruped robot for inspection and data capture in industry, construction, energy and public safety, with mounting rails for payloads and a charging dock for autonomous missions. The Spot Arm is available as an accessory: 8 kg, six degrees of freedom plus gripper, reach 984 mm, lifting capacity up to 11 kg; Spot with the arm weighs 39.7 kg. Retrofitting a manipulator is the case that can amount to a substantial modification of the machine – with the consequence that whoever carries out the modification becomes the manufacturer – see the guide to CE conformity below for more details. In 2021 Hyundai Motor Group put a Spot with its own computing payload, thermal camera and 3D LiDAR into pilot operation at a Kia plant as the “Factory Safety Service Robot” – an application example for plant rounds, not a separate device.

Compliance & evidence

EU declaration of conformity to be added
EMC per EN to be added
Radio Equipment Directive (RED) to be added
Machinery Directive to be added

"No public information" means we searched as of the date shown and found no public evidence. This is not a statement about actual conformity — evidence we do not hold may well exist. Documented evidence only covers its own scope: FCC Part 15B is a US EMC record and replaces neither the EU declaration of conformity nor EN-based EMC testing or a Radio Equipment Directive assessment.

Explosion protection

Approval to be added

An Ex approval always applies to one specific combination of zone, gas group and temperature class. Without those three it says nothing about whether the machine may be used in your area. Gas detection is not an Ex approval.
