Law and regulation

Does an inspection robot need CE marking?

Yes. An inspection robot is a machine and may only be placed on the market in the EU with CE marking and an EU declaration of conformity.

CE marking is not an authority's seal of approval, but the manufacturer's declaration that all applicable legal acts are met. For an inspection robot, these regularly include machinery legislation, electromagnetic compatibility, radio equipment legislation and battery regulations at the same time.

If the declaration of conformity is missing, the device may not lawfully be placed on the EU market – regardless of whether a CE mark has been affixed. More in the guide to CE conformity.
