What changes on 20 January 2027?

From 20 January 2027 the Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 applies and replaces the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.

New elements include, among others, separate requirements for cybersecurity and for machines with self-evolving behaviour. Both points are directly relevant to inspection robots.

Products placed on the market before this date are protected by grandfathering. For everything after that, the new framework applies – this affects procurements that run over the turn of the year. More details in the article on the Machinery Regulation.
